Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays. I usually really love this time of year but I am just too pregnant to care right now. Which is kind of sad. Baby boy Herrera has yet to make his debut yet. Although my doctor thinks that it will be any day now. I am hoping sooner rather than later becuase, even though it would be cute, I don't want to have him on Christmas and I would like to be home before Christmas. But, I guess I don't really have a ton of control about this. Doesn't he know he was supposed to be born in January! silly little guy. At least he was not as anxious as Max to get out (4 weeks early) Taryn would still have been in China. Taryn had the opportunity to go to China for work for about a week and a half and just got home Wednesday. Even though he is still trying to get over his jet lag I think that he enjoyed the trip. He got to work and then go and see some sites in Beijing. I will have to get his camera to post some of the cool pictures that he took. Max has been excited for Christmas. He loves to look at Christmas lights, redecorate our tree (the nice ornaments are up high so he can't get them) and he knows who Santa is but doesn't get the whole present thing. He also likes to play with the Nativity sets that he sees and rearrange them so everything is facing baby Jesus. It is so cute. Here are a couple pictures from earlier in the month.
These were taken at my parents neighborhood party. Max played in the snow, thought the fire was way cool and even posed with me for a picture. When he finally got cold and wanted to go inside he took off his shoes, socks and pants and then wanted a blanket and to watch a movie. I cracked up when he was taking his pants off.

Finally

I have been totally bad at updating lately. I blame it on working full time, pregnancy, and taking care of a 2 year old, husband, house and dog. It keeps a girl busy but I will try and be better in the future. So here is some of the stuff that we have been doing the last few months. We love to go to the Zoo. I bought a season pass and we went almost every week up until now. Max knows the names of pretty much all the animals at the zoo and what noises they make. His favorites have been the babies that are at the zoo. He especially likes the baby Elephant (which is sooooo cute) the baby Giraffe or raffe as Max calls it. He also likes the snakes and small reptiles and pretty much everything else at the zoo. He loves it all.

We also went to the Murray City Safety Fair a couple of weeks ago. Max loves lights and sirens. He saw firetrucks, ambulances, police cars, motorcycles and the swat truck. He decided that the swat truck was his and that he should get to drive it all night. He drug my dad around to everything and it was funny becuase all of the guys that my dad works with thought it was funny that a 2 year old was dragging the chief around. Whenever we took him off the motorcycles or out of the swat truck he screamed.

Max in the SWAT truck. He even tried to turn on the siren.

Trying to drive the motorcycle.

We also went to the circus. We were pleasantly surprised that it was actually entertaining. They did many Cirque du Soleil type of acrobatics. The Elephants and Tigers were the best and they also did some dog tricks. Max was mesmerized the whole time. And he even wore a hat! Which is very shocking becuase Max refuses (!) to wear hats

Max in his awesome hat...it came with the cotton candy. He was mesmerized.

The Elephants

We love the Arctic Circle and Max usually eats our Nilla wafers that come in our shakes but the last time that we went they made him one of those little cones. He loved it and actually wasn't too messy.

The rest of life is going pretty good Taryn is crazy busy with work. School is going good for me, I have a great bunch of kids right now. The new baby is still growing and getting bigger. We have not picked out a name yet...

Max says

Max is becoming extremely talkative. He jabbers on and on and you can actually understand most of what he is saying. He has said a few amusing things lately that I thought I needed to write down and remember:
At daycare his preschool teacher Miss Chelsea was having everyone color and then she was helping them write thier names on thier paper. Well since Max is too little to write his own name she said "Max, what does your name start with?" and he gave her this look and said "Max". Her response was "Yes, your name does start with Max". She thought his response was so funny she told me about this later in the day when I picked him.
Another time at daycare Max wanted to help clean up and help put the naptime cots away. He kept trying to pick up one of the cots and move it. Miss Paige (I think it was her) said "Max, that is too heavy for you" and being a stubborn 2 year old his response was "No it not!" and then he proceded to keep tugging on one of the cots to pull it to the corner. Once he got it over there he walked out of the room and went to play.
This last one involves me and I will admit that I didn't know how to respond to Max's statement. We were at the store and I was looking at Maternity clothes. I don't really like them and so I check them out often to try and find something that is normal. I found a really cute shirt and showed it to Max and I asked him what he thought. He looked at me and pointed and said "Cow, Moo!" The shirt was red, not even cow colors. Being pregnant I didn't know if I wanted to laugh or cry but I ended up laughing pretty hard.
Who knows what Max will say next...

Coming Soon

It's a baby!

The Herrera Family is expanding. I am pregnant and we are expecting our little addition in early January. I am currently 20 weeks along and everything has been going pretty good. Max is going to be a big brother and we talk to him about it all of the time but I am not sure that he gets it. I think that he will like the new baby especially becuase it is going to be a...baby brother! The two of them will be buddies.

Blonde hair and blue eyes, who would have thought. I wonder about this next one...

2!

Max turned 2 at the end of July. I can't believe it! He is so big and is just growing like a weed. Some of the things that he is in to are: Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, Airplanes pretty much anything with an engine that makes noise he loves. He also likes to jump on the tramp and be outside. Max talks constantly and you can pretty much understand most of what he says, he learns so many words everyday, we have no idea what he will say next. I just love being his mom and getting to spend this summer with him while I have been off of school has been the best, going back to school is going to be hard for me but I know that Max is looking forward to going to his school. He loves the teachers and the other kids that are there. Happy Birthday! We love you!

What a Weekend!

Memorial Day weekend was a crazy one for us. It all started Thursday. I had a brilliant idea to take Max to go and see Thomas the Train at the Heber Valley Railroad. Max absolutely loves trains and so I thought that he would have a great time. We got there an hour before our train ride to see all of the Thomas related activities that were going on. Max absolutely loved the petting zoo. He walked around and would pet and brush the pony and donkey and even the camel. He thought they were great. We then went to the bubble station. They had huge wands so you could make giant bubbles. That was awesome until another little kid came up to Max and hit Max it the face with his bubble wand. Bubble solution got in the eyes and hysterics ensued. The mom of the little boy was standing right by me and her only comment was: "Did he hit him?" I was like yeah can't you see my kid freaking out! I didn't say that but come on. After we got Max calmed down we went and played with all of the train sets while we waited for our train ride. Finally it was our turn. Max really liked the train ride and he didn't want any help to sit or stand on the bench and look out at the horses and cows we passed. But I don't have any good pictures of this event becuase every time Max saw the camera he flipped out. He did not want his picture taken. On the way home we ate dinner at a yummy mexican place in Park City called El Chubasco.
Friday we had to work, pack and drive to Las Vegas. Taryn plays baseball on a team that plays tournaments in Phoenix and Las Vegas. Memorial Day weekend was Vegas. My parents were so nice to take Max while we went there. Max had a great time with them. On the drive down to Vegas we didn't go over 40 mph until we hit Payson. Holy crap that took a long time. We stayed in Henderson while we were there. On the way to the first game at 7 am we were on the freeway when car pulls up along side of us and starts yelling profanities at us and flashing all of these gang signs. I didn't know that fingers could move like that. All Taryn and I could do was just stare. They must be very dedicated gang bangers to be that aggressive at 7am. The games proved to be uneventful that day but later that night we went shopping on the strip and went to the the Cirque du Soleil(?) Beatles LOVE show. It was totally awesome and we got a heck of a deal. The tickets were 40% off and then they upgraded our seats when we got to the show. It was incredible!
Taryn had another game on Sunday again very uneventful. We ate at In-n-out burger and now I understand what the big deal is. It is yummy! We went shopping again that night. We drove home on Monday. Played with Max for a few hours and then continued the crazy weekend. Before we had decided to go to Vegas I bought tickets for the No Doubt concert, saying it was for my birthday. Taryn was such a good sport to go to such a girly concert. I have loved No Doubt since like Junior high days and Paramore played with them. It was actually a great show but the parking was horrible. They were charging 20$ to park. Crazy. We parked at Taryn's office down the street and walked. Then back to the real world on Tuesday. We spent this last weekend finally recovering from our crazy memorial day weekend.
Wow that was long but I finally had something to share. I will post pictures later.
3 days until school is out!

Spring!

I love Spring! The weather is finally warming up, the flowers and everything else springy. Max has decided that he loves to be outside. He gets very upset when it is time to go inside. He loves to play in his sandbox at Grandma Lynette and Grandpa Craigs house, take Roxy on walks, go to Daddy's baseball games, blow bubbles, run all over the place and get really dirty. We also discovered the new childrens museum, which is awesome. Max had a great time and I got a summer pass to go once school is out. Max loved the easter egg hunt that the Burnett family put on. I had fun too, until Taryn and Chris attacked me with silly string. I was covered with almost 3 cans of it, mostly in my hair. Gross. I laughed so hard I was crying. Here are some photos. Enjoy!

I know, I know...

I am not even going to make any excuses about blogging. I just haven't done it lately. But since it has been a while I thought that I would catch up on our lives. Taryn has been quite busy traveling the world. He was gone for almost 3 weeks on trips to Toronto Canada (His absolute favorite place ) and to Guatemala. Max and I missed him a ton. He is also getting back in to baseball. It is pretty fun to go and watch his team play.
I was called to be the primarey chorister. It has been hard becuase our primary is so small. Senior primary has 8 kids. Junior is larger but I still feel like I am singing solos all thoughout primary. Work is going well. Now that I am in 2nd semester it is easier becuase I am just repeating and improving my lessons. I don't have to make everything from scratch anymore.
Max is a crazy wild man and he never stops. He is constantly talking and running and his mood swings all over the place. He has totally hit the terrible two's. He wants to do everything and he gets frustrated that he can't.
I will post pictures later.

Lightning McQueen

Kachow!
Max absolutely loves the movie Cars. He asks for it and will even sit through the entire thing. He won't even sit through a full episode of Elmo's world so this is a big deal. He has lots of Lightning McQueen stuff. He tries to say his name and calls him "Keen". Max referes to the movie as "Go". He likes to crash his cars into each other as he drives them on the floor and says "Vroom" . We have tried to get him to watch other movies like Nemo or Monsters Inc and he was interested in them but not nearly as much as he loves Cars. But I must say that I don't mind Cars too much. In fact I appreciate that it will entertain my otherwise non stop little guy and lets me get some stuff done.

It's about time!

I am finally blogging about the holidays. They were so much fun and I wasn't at work by a computer constantly and I never updated. Sorry! Taryn had some paid time off and so we were all able to be home for 2 weeks over the Christmas break. It was nice to have lazy days. Max was fun this Christmas. Once the toys were open he was excited to play with them but he had absolutely no interest at all in opening, tearing or playing with the paper or the boxes. We did most of our Christmas on the video recorder but I will put up some pictures from our adventures. We went to Zoo Lights. It was actually really pretty and it was fun becuase many of the animals were out. Max loved to see the cougars out and walking around and the other big cats.

Max at his day care Christmas Program and PJ Party. He loves that place.
Taryn, Max and Roxy sharing Christmas kisses. Max and Roxy were sitting in her new bed she got for Christmas.
Max on his bouncy pony. He loves it. It can be hooked up to the TV and play "video games".
How cute is he in his new church clothes. He has really started posing for the camera lately. I just love his face in this picture.
