Halloween and More!

I know I have been a total slacker at updating but I do have some really cute pictures to post. Beginning where I left off after my last post, Max was a Police Man for Halloween and he was so cute. I gave him a real mowhawk haircut. Yes, I did it myself. Max's hair grows so stinkin' fast it is expensive to keep getting it professionally cut so we bought some clippers and now Max sports a super cute buzz cut. We even took him to go and visit Grandpa Craig at work on Halloween to get pictures of both of them in uniform with the police cars. (my mom has those pics, they will be posted later. The costume was one that my mom made for my brother Chris when he was 2. I also think that shows how big of a kid Max is, this fit Chris when he was 2 and Max was only like 15 months. We said that Roxy was his K-9. My school voted on not dressing up becuase we were not in school on Halloween. It definitely helped with the behavior issues that normally occur but I missed not being able to see what the kids did. It show off thier personalities.

Seeing the Witches (that Max was totally scared of) at Gardner Village

November has been a pretty normal month. Taryn has been home the whole time, which has been awesome. He got a raise and a promotion too! But they have been running him ragged there. He does have to go to Canada soon and Gautemala early next year.
The other day Taryn was feeding Max lunch and Max was getting tired so he was spitting out the food. It was pretty funny and Taryn was laughing at him and from the picture you can see what happened. Taryn laughed at him and Max kept spitting out his food all over his clothes.
I realize that it was funny but a white shirt, good thing I am the one that usually spills on white shirts and am pro at getting stains out.

Phoenix

Max watching Daddy at the Brewers Stadium in Maryvale, AZ
It is about time that I posted some pictures from our Phoenix trip. It was so fun, well most of the time. I say that becuase trying to keep a 1 year old entertained during a double header in 100 degree heat is not easy. Taryn's team did pretty well, the made it to the playoffs and lost to the team that won it all. We also went to the Arizona State Fair with Sherie, Rick, Jason, Sami and Josh. It was pretty cool. We went shopping and out to eat at some really yummy places. Max even went swimming! Taryn played at the spring training facilities for the Angels, A's, Indians and actually got to play in the stadium at the Brewers complex.

Phoenix Here We Come!

Wednesday we are heading to Phoenix. That is right, welcome back 90 degree temperature, how I have missed you. We are going down to a baseball tournament. Taryn plays for a competitive team and we asked to join another team that was going to play down there. Luckily it is UEA weekend and because I have the time off Max and I get to go too. We had a hotel and car all lined up and then I called my Aunt Sherie, who moved down there in the spring to see if she wanted to have dinner while we were there and she offered us a car that she wasn't using and the guest room at her and Rick and Jason's house. How nice! We are very appreciative of their generosity! It was very thoughtful of them to invite us in to thier home. Max will also get to play with my cousin Sami's little boy Josh and I think that they will have fun together. It should be a good time! I will take lots of pictures and update when I get back!

Tubes

Today we went and saw Dr Hunter about Max's ears. After all of the testing and looking in his ears, we decided to put tubes in. From what he explained it will help Max with all of the ear troubles he has been having. So Monday October 27 Max is getting tubes. It is actually a very simple procedure and only takes about 10 minutes. He said that Max would be in a bad mood for about 20 minutes after and then he will be back to his good old self. We are just glad that this will help our little guy feel better.

Poor Max!

Our little guy has had a hard time lately. He has had so many problems from his ears that when he was in such a bad mood the last few days we assumed that it was more ear problems. This morning Taryn and I finally found out what it was. Max has a new tooth! He just cut the one on the right side of his bottom teeth so I can bet we aren't done. He always gets 2 teeth at a time so I am sure that the matching tooth is on its way.

Pictures!

We took Max to get his 1st birthday pictures about a month ago and here they finally are. Max turned one in July but becuase of his wild and crazy walking and running he constantly had bupms and bruises on his face until September. I thought they turned out really cute. He was not very cooperative for the photographer though. So Max pretty much posed himself for his pictures. Max thought that he was so funny in this one behind the chair. In the bigger version you can see what a huge smile he has. The photographer actually even submitted this one to the monthly contest. Even though you can't see his face I think that this picture shows off his personality.

New Pictures

Okay, well they are not super new pictures but they are new to the blog and therefore I think that you (whoevery "you" my readers are) will enjoy them.
We have a season pass to Hogle Zoo this year and here is the traditional picture to measure up to the gorilla.

Max really enoys going to the zoo. He loves to look at the small animals becuase he can get so close to the them. He also likes to play at the playground that they have there and ride the train and carousel.

WOW

I am really sucky on these updates and I actually do have a ton to update. So here are some quickies about our family. I switched schools this year and am currently teaching at Riverview Junior High in Murray School District, yup I went back to the old stomping grounds. But it was a huge pay raise and much closer to home than Indian Hills.
Max has been attending day care this year at the Spartan Station at MHS and he absolutely loves it. He has so much fun everyday. Although the poor guy has had constant ear infections since June and this week his ear drum ruptured. My pediatrician said that it was pretty common for that to happen because of how long his ear has been infected. So, we have been shipped off to the ENT for tubes for poor Maxy. I will keep you updated about that.
As for Taryn our world traveler, he has spent the last week in Laborador City, Canada. Where. he informed me last night, it was -10 degrees. Poor guy! But he is coming home tonight and hopefully no trips for a little while.

Max's First Haircut

Max got his first haircut back in July and after it was all done all of the darker blonde/brown hair was gone. Max is a total blonde! He was so good during his hair cut. He didn't cry or get upset. We went to Cookie cutters and they were so cute with him. I totally recommend them for little kids haircuts.

Happy Birthday

July is a big month for birthdays here in the Herrera Family. Taryn turned 27 on the 23rd and Max turned 1 on the 26th. We had a ton of fun. We had a big family birthday party for Max. He was totally spoiled and he had his own cake that I made for him. It was a little baseball and he totally dug into it. Taryn and I can't believe that our little boy is a year old!

4th of July

On the 4th we went to the Murray Parade and Max actually liked it. He waved around the little flags that they hand out at the beginning. We also went to the Murray baseball game that day to watch daddy coach and then to the fireworks. They didn't even scare Max. He watched them so intently.

Hawaii

Taryn and I went to Hawaii to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. We went June 22-29 and it was the best. Our anniversary is July 15 so we celebrated a little early. We spent most of our time at the beach, we really liked the beaches on the North Shore. Oh, we stayed on the island of Oahu. We went snorkeling at Hanuama Bay, to the polynesian cultural center, on a hike in the rain forest, shopping, golfing, Pearl Harbor, USS Missouri, Pineapple Plantation and tons more. It was such a beautiful place.

Finally!!

It is about time that I update this blog. Sorry there have been no updates this summer. I have just had too much fun with Max to spend much time on the computer. So here is the short version of our summer. Enjoy!

Outside Time

I love when the weather gets warm and it is time to be outside. Luckily Max loves to play outside. He really likes this car at Grandpa Craig and Grandma Lynette's house. He loves to go on walks in it. If you stop pushing him he gets upset and bangs on the stearing wheel until you move and when it is time to get out, you can only imagine the fit he throws. Max finally cut his front teeth, which makes a total of 4 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth. He can crawl (kinda) but prefers to walk. Although with walking he is a bit of a scaredy cat and wants to know you are around to hold his hands if he wants. So silly. Taryn just got home from spending 10 days in beautiful Russia (sarcasm). You'll have to ask him about that. He'll have to post some pictures. As for me I am just waiting for school to get out on Wednesday. Wahoo! I am excited for summer. I honestly think that teachers get more excited than the students do for the end of school.

Meet our newest edition...

This is Roxy. She is our chihuahua puppy. We have had here for about a week and a half. She is almost 9 weeks old. She is so cute and fun. She loves to go on walks, play tug with Max and cuddle. She is so teeny. She will be about 5 pounds when she is full grown I would guess she is around a pound right now. She is mostly black with 3 brown paws and 1 white one.

You can't see it too well but Max has on his Jr. Police Officer outfit on. He looks so cute in it. Max has also started to recognize the camera and smiles when you point it at him. I can't believe that he is already trained at doing that. I blame it on Grandma Lynette and her crazy camera!

Cupcakes!

Max had his first cupcake! Grandma Lynette made some and we thought that Max would like his own after we had given him few tastes of ours. He did like the taste of it but was more fascinated with what he could do to it. As you can see in the picture he pretty much turned the entire cupcake in to crumbs. He also loves not having clothes on so he really liked the fact he didn't have to wear his shirt!

It has been a while...

Hello All!

Sorry for the lapse in our updates. I am not so good at this blogging thing. Well, not much has been going on for us here. Taryn has kept us busy attending baseball and softball games. Max and I have gone to many but have yet to make it through one. The weather has just not been very cooperative. Max is getting mobile. He will turn in circles and go backwards when he is on his belly or all fours but never forward. He is also teething, and when Max cuts teeth it is just not a tooth he gets a whole mouthfull. He cut his 2 bottom teeth at the same time and now he is working on his top 4 front teeth and it looks so funny becuase the ones that are cutting first are the 2 on the outside. He is going to look like a littl vampire if he doesn't get those middle ones in soon. As for me I am just teaching, getting ready for the marathon that is parent teacher conferences. We only do them for one night 3 times a year but we don't end up leaving school that day until 9:30. That is a long day. Taryn and I are also planning our 5 year wedding anniversary. We are going to Hawaii! We are so excited!

Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday we went to the annual Burnett Family Easter Egg Hunt. Max found one egg and he was perfectly content with banging it against his bucket. Nicole found the rest of his eggs for him. He was not interested in what was inside of the eggs (Lucky for mom and dad!) He just loved the noises that the eggs made in his bucket. When we put him in his car seat to head home, he screamed until we gave him his bucket of eggs to hold on to and to shake around.

Cheapest Toy Ever

We went to Jason's Deli on Friday night and they gave us one to many containers. Max liked playing with it so much we took it home. He loves it!

So sleepy

Last night was so funny. Max fell asleep during dinner while he was eating. He would still chew and swallow I just had to coerce him into opening his mouth.

Happy Feb 29- Leap Day!

Our poor little Max has been to the doctor 3 times in the 2 weeks. He went in for an ear infection and then to get his blood drawn and a flu shot. He is such a brave little guy, he didn't even flinch while getting his blood drawn. He smiled and talked to the technician. They said he was the poster child for this procedure. There was 3 people in the room, including me, to hold him still while they drew the blood. None of us were even needed. Pluse he only cried for a minute after his flu shot. Max went back to the doctor the very next day for the 3rd time to get his ears checked out again. He just hasn't been getting better. Sure enough he still had the infections. Dr Bean put him on a stronger antibiotic and hopefully that will get rid of it. It is so hard to know that he is in pain and there isn't a whole lot you can do to make it better. The new medicine must be working because he slept through the night last night, which he hasn't done since he came down with the ear infections. Wish us luck!

Awesome Weekend

This weekend was totally awesome. I am just kidding. Max screamed all night every night. We took him to the doctor today and found out that he has a cold and a pretty bad ear infection to go along with the teething. Hopefully the medicine will help Max get some sleep so mommy and daddy can get some sleep too.
